 Our Mission

“At Crown of Life Lutheran Church our mission is to proclaim forgiveness of sins and eternal life for all through Jesus Christ while providing a fellowship where people of differing backgrounds can serve the Lord as a family.”

The World is looking for something lasting, something meaningful. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor or what you have done in your past, we all are looking for something. God says he has something for us. Through faith in his Son Jesus we are heirs of eternal salvation (Rom 8:17).  We want our community in New Orleans East to have that great assurance God gives to those who believe in him.

Pastor Kehl

“My wife Erin and I were excited to move down to New Orleans in 2013 as I began my ministry at Crown of Life. The Lord has blessed us greatly. and I pray that he uses me as a blessing to this congregation and to New Orleans. When I’m not in the office I enjoy spending time outdoors.  Many of my college summer jobs were landscaping or carpentry so I love to work in the garden and in the garage. I love food (especially here), so if you know of a good restaurant call me up and we will meet you there.”

Pastor Jonathan Kehl graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2013 with a Master of Divinity degree.  During his schooling he had 8 years of Greek and 5 years of Hebrew, giving him the ability to study the Bible in its original languages. The third year of seminary he interned at a church in Johnson City TN. From there he would complete his final year and then was called by Crown of Life New Orleans to be their pastor.

What’s a Lutheran?

There are different kinds of Lutherans; our branch is firmly convinced that the Bible is the Word of God.  We’re also firmly convinced that the Bible’s main message is good news – that God loved the whole world so much that Jesus came to this world Himself, was born, lived, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, so sinners like us could go to heaven.  That’s a great message!  We try to let that good-news message shine through everything we do.  For a more information about what we believe, check out our doctrinal statements “This We Believe.”
