The Setting

– Are you prepared for this? Answer this question, “What does it mean to be a Lutheran?” That’s a harder question to answer than you might expect. I involves not only knowing the Bible, but knowing how you are different from other Christians who know the Bible.

The Challenge

– Knowing who you are as uniquely Lutheran prepares us to clearly share the gospel with those around us. Martin Luther has helped us with this so…
1. Grab your Luther’s Small Catechism. If you don’t have one you can order one here or I have a slightly older version pasted here
2. Pledge to memorize the First 8 pages of the Catechism (including meanings). This will cover Commandments, Creeds, Lord’s Payer
3. Make it a habit to commit it to memory section by section until you have memorized all 8 pages. If you do it before the end of the year, make it the first 10 pages.

The Result

– Use it! You will be better prepared to be a witness of Christ and your Lutheran heritage!  For fun, we will have a congregational examination by the end of the year, and when the opportunity arises, use it to clearly share the gospel.

the First 8 pages online

Here are the first 8 pages copied to our web-page. Just note, this isn’t the most recently updated version, so some of the language will be different. If you would like to purchase your own catechism find it here.

Pledge Chart

Pledge to memorize the First 8 pages before 2020. As you progress mark it here so we can see where we stand as a congregation.
